“Deccan Odyssey” - A Royal Tour within Maharashtra State


The Deccan Odyssey is a Super Deluxe Luxury Train which is organized by Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation Ltd in association with the Indian railways. The concept of Deccan Odyssey is derived from the best luxury trains in the world that are similar to The Orient Express of Europe, The Blue Train of South Africa and The Eastern and Oriental of South East Asia.

The Deccan Odyssey:



The Deccan Odyssey route is so mapped that it reflects the local traditions, delicious cuisine and traditional culture which are the valuables belonging to Maharashtra State. Also the Deccan Odyssey Train is so decorated that its interior depicts Royal Culture of the Maharashtra State. To add more to this, the various picturesque sites, attracts most of the travelers from different parts of the world.

The Deccan Odyssey train is built to carry the passengers on a journey to of a life time traveling experience. In this journey the travelers will visit the various locations that are listed on India's heritage sites and few of them are also listed as World heritage sites. It will be a journey where the visitors will visit ancient forts and picturesque locations like Konkan coast. Also every visitor will be able to taste the various cuisines at each of the location.

Journey Route of Deccan Odyssey:



The Deccan Odyssey will be entertaining all eight days where passengers will start the journey from Mumbai City which is the financial capital of India. So the journey route will begin with the Mumbai City then further it will take its passengers towards Sindhudurg, Tarkarli, Goa, Kolhapur, Aurangabad, Ellora, Ajanta and Nasik. In this way all the passengers will be brought back to Mumbai after visiting the last destination of Nasik. Hence, the Journey Route is so designed that passengers can rest in the Train itself while travelling at each of the locations.

Day wise schedule of the Deccan Odyssey:

Day 1: Journey starts from Mumbai.

Day 2: Visit to Sindhudurg Nagri, Sindhudurg Fort, Tarkarli Beach and Dhamapur Village.

Day3: Destination Goa part I: Here the passengers will visit St. Augustine Church - Basilica of Bom Jesus Church - Se Cathedral Church - St.Francis of Assissi which is a Museum of Goan antiques and at last a visit to Fontanhas the Latin Quarters at Panjim.

Day 4: Destination Goa part II: Here again the passengers will visit very interesting locations like House at Chandoli village, Menezes Braganza, Sahakari Spice Farm and Mhalsa and Mangeshi - The Hindu Temples.

Day 5: Kolhapur City: Travelers will be taken to Hindu Temple of Goddess Shri Mahalaxmi Temple, Bhavani Mandap, New Palace Museum and Shalini Palace.

Day 6: Aurangabad: Here the passengers will visit Daulatabad, Ellora Caves which is a World Heritage Site and Bibi-Ka-Maqbara.

Day 7: Nasik: Here the passengers will be at the last location of their voyage on Deccan Odyssey and the name of that location is Ajanta Caves.

Day8: Mumbai: Again all the passengers will be brought back to the financial Hub of India called the Mumbai City.

In this way the journey comes to an end where the passengers of the Deccan Odyssey have experienced the journey as in "once in a life time".
