MPSC Mains Examination New Syllabus and Pattern


For the year 2012 the Maharashtra Public Service Commission has decided to conduct the examination with the New pattern and Syllabus. So the following resource give you the exact details of the syllabus and about the Mains Examination for the year 2012. You can download the syllabus and pattern at the end of this resource.

The pattern and syllabus for the STATE SERVICES MAIN EXAMINATION is newly structured and it is divided in six compulsory papers where two of them will be languages paper consisting of 100 marks each and it structure will be of descriptive nature. On the other hand, MPSC has structured the remaining four papers which will be of Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ). Hence, the remaining four papers are for 150 Marks each with a 2:1 negative marking system.

Total Papers of MPSC Mains exam 2012:



In this way the applicant for various posts in State Services Main Examination will have to appear for six papers as follows:

2 Papers of Languages (English and Marathi): Total 200 Marks. (Descriptive type questions).

4 Papers of General Studies: Total 600 Marks. (Multiple Choice Questions).

Till date today, it was necessary for every applicant to choose which subject they will be appearing for and at times it was difficult to choose appropriate subjects. Every applicant was confused about choosing the subjects where they would qualify easily. Also there was no any detailed syllabus displayed with respect to the subjects that applicants opted for. Hence, it was necessary for every applicant to choose the subjects with proper guidance.

But now, for the year 2012, MPSC has structured the Mains in the prescribed four papers listed with their syllabus and are named as General Studies Paper I, General Studies Paper II, General Studies Paper III and General Studies Paper IV. They are as follows:

General Studies Paper I: HISTORY AND GEOGRAPHY

General Studies Paper II: INDIAN CONSTITUTION AND INDIAN POLITICS
(WITH SPECIAL REFERENCE TO MAHARASHTRA) AND LAW

General Studies Paper III: HUMAN RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT (HRD) AND HUMAN RIGHTS

General Studies Paper IV: ECONOMY AND PLANNING, ECONOMICS OF DEVELOPMENT,
SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY DEVELOPMENT

The detailed syllabus for each of the above mentioned papers is attached at the bottom of this resource. And the English and Marathi papers will be structured as per the H.S.C level.

Remember that the preliminary examination pattern is yet to be decided by the MPSC and it will be updated on its official website after finalization. Till then they have declared Mains examination syllabus only.
