Fellowship Program of Teach For India
All the Graduates and Post-Graduate student can apply for the fellowship program launched under Teach For India which is designed by the "Teach To Lead" non-profit Organization. Teach For India has an ambition to provide quality education to every child in India where the talent of fresher's and professional students will be recruited under the Fellowship Program.
Teach For India:
In the year 2006, young leaders came together and reformed to work together so that the inequity regarding the educational system of India can be completely enhanced to a higher level. In this way the group of young leaders concluded to a decision that the change must be a systematic and it should feature outstanding professionals who can lead towards providing better and quality education to every child. So the group of young leaders consulted with the Wendy Kopp, CEO and Founder of Teach For America (TFA). Based on the pattern of Teach For America (TFA) a similar approach was proposed and it was named as "Teach For India".
After successful implementation of Teach For India educational pattern in metro cities like Pune, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Chennai and Delhi it proposed that this model should be extended by recruiting many young graduates and professionals. The McKinsey & Company did a twelve weeks research on implementation of the designed model and it gave favorable results which lead to the planning of further five years. In this way during the year 2008, a formation of non-profit organization took place and is named as "Teach To Lead".
The project Teach For India, designed by "Teach To Lead" non-profit organization, successfully recruited Fellows for the year 2009. In this year it was being implemented in low-income municipal and private English medium schools in the city of Pune and Mumbai.
Eligibility Criteria of Teach For India Fellow Program:
Graduates, Post-Graduates as well as experienced professionals can apply. For all students in their final year of Graduation or Post-Graduation can apply only if they are sure that their result will be declared by Last week of May 2012. The secondary school diploma holders will be given priority in this Fellow program.
Academic record and other educational qualifications will be judged by the Panel of selectors of Teach For India and eligible candidates will be shortlisted and called for the Interview process.
Fluency in English:
The applicants must possess a fluency in English language as they will have to teach for the English medium schools.
Limitation of Age: The candidate must be born on or after 1st January 1976.Contract and Location of work:
The selected candidates will have to serve "Teach For India" for about 2 years which is a full time contract. The candidates will have to work six days of week. The placement cities are Pune, Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai and Hyderabad. All the selected candidates will start working by June 2012.
The Teach for India is planning to cover all the major cities in India. Currently it has it placement regions on in five cities as mentioned above. All the applicants can register and wait for the opportunity to work for their city. The aim of Teach for India is to cover 10 cities in the coming years. Stipend and allowances:
The selected candidates of Fellowship program of Teach For India will be given a Stipend of Rs. 16,000/- per month. If the selected candidate needs to relocate from his home city to the location work then that candidate will be given a housing allowance ranging from Rs. 6,500/- to Rs. 8,000/-. There will be additional allowances in regard of school supplies.
