The college was named in memory of the founder Shri. V.L. Ethiraj. He is the student of Dr.Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan, the first President of India. He donated a sum of 10 lakhs for the development of this institution. The institution was started in the year 1948 in the busy area Egmore of Chennai.
