How to Vote in Tamil Nadu Local Body Election
There will be 2 EVM kept in polling booth to elect mayor and ward member. First time EVM has been adopted along with online voter's lists with photo. Booth slips will be given door to door by government authorities with an acknowledgement from the voters. In few cases if voter slip has not been received it can be collected from the officer near the polling booth on election date. Every Booth consists of Chief Officer and 4 polling officers.
First on entering into the room the candidate should show any of valid mentioned documents to the 1st poll officer and he will verify the name and address of the voter and in loud noise will inform about the Page number, Continuation Number and voter name to 3rd poll officer. Next we have to move to 2nd poll officer and he will place ink on left index finger of the voter. Next come back to 1st poll officer and he will get a sign or thumb impression in the gadgets and give a slip and it should be shown and given to 4th poll officer and he will allow us to cast our vote. Finally a check can be made whether if an Ink mark has been placed in voter's hand
In the voter doesn't like the candidate, the voter should inform the status to the officer and then return his voter slip and a mark should be made on the slip to indicate it rejection or any other real status. The rejected slip shouldn't be dropped into the box instead it should be filed in the respective covers. Finally the details about the rejected slip should be indicated with its status in Election Form 20 of section 1 as said by the election commission.
