The Thanjavur Medical College is located in Thanjavur, Tamil Nadu, India. It is has its fame all over India for its great achievements. The Thanjavur Medical College is affiliated to Dr. MGR Medical University, Tamil Nadu, India. The college was started first as hospital in 1960s and later on the college has taken its form as a training institute. At the earlier stage there were only 100 seats for the students. The 100 seats were divided among the boys and girls. The boys has a major part of 75 seats and the girls has a lesser seats of 25 seats. Presently the college has grown to a great extent and now the college has 200 seats and now most of the seats are being filled by only girls students. Presently there is an proposal of starting a cancer hospital too along with the medical college, but the decision is pending from the government side. The college has UG, PG and Diplomo courses in medicine.
