The Bharathiar University is located in Coimbatore. The Bharathiar University was set up in February 1982 by the Government of Tamil Nadu. From then the Bharathiar University continuously producing many scholars in various fields of studies. Bharathiar University's mission is to be innovative in the educational field. For this reason the university has introduced many changes and reforms in the field of education. The college makes the students to be equipped enough to meet the present social needs of the society. It is considered as one of the best Universities in Tamilnadu.

The Bharathiar University was set up in February 1982 by the great efforts of the Tamil Nadu government. This university was set up under the GO of "Bharathiar University Act 1981. The university got its recognition from the University Grand Commission in May, 1985. The university was named as Bharathiar University after the great national poet Subramania Bharathi. It is he who has enshrined with the motto "Educate to Elevate".
The University has grown day by day and reached the present situation. Presently the University has 104 affiliated colleges and 92 Arts and Science colleges under its sole control. The University also had included two more university colleges and twelve management institution under it. It is specific to note that the university also has a Air force administration college in Bharathiar University. Along with these institutes the university has started more than 25 research institutes for the research students. The Bharathiar University is located in Coimbatore 15 km away from the City. The university lies near the maruthamalai hills. Under Graduate Courses
The candidates should have qualified there higher Secondary in any approved Boards. The candidates with special talents will be given prior importance. How ever the application and admission process is done through first come first served basis.
Post Graduate Courses
The candidates who are willing to join the Post Graduate Degree in Bharathiar University should have completed the under graduate course in the appropriate field. The Candidates should have completed their degree in 10+2+3 pattern. The students also should have appeared in any one of the entrance test conducted by TANCET.
For Post Graduate Courses the admission will be based on the performance in the entrance test. The under graduate marks up to 2nd semester will be taken into consideration for the admission.
The Entrance will be conducted only in the Bharathiar University Campus. The students should appear for this entrance exam and perform well for taking the admission in Bharathiar University. How to Apply PG/UG in Bharathiar University
After the notification for the admission by the university the candidates can get the application in person by visiting the university. The candidates will be given application on making the application fee only in the form of a Demand Draft taken in favor of "The Registrar, Bharathiar University" payable at Coimbatore. No cash payment is accepted for the application fee. For the SC/ST students the concession will be given on the application fee. For this they should carry an attested Xerox copy of their community certificate. The students along with the application and Demand draft also should attach a self-addressed envelope with Rs.50 stamp.
