Tamilnadu Amma Unavagam started by our Tamilnadu CM Ms.J. Jayalalitha
Tamilnadu CM Ms.J. Jayalalitha was the one who initiated the project Amma Unavagam. Initially, 15 such Unavagams were started. On 24-Febrary-2013 on our TN CM Ms. J. Jayalaitha's birthday, 24 more unavagams were started.Tamilnadu Amma Unavagam cheap and hygienic food to the poor people
Through this project poor people and the middle class people are getting benefitted because they spend a major part of their income for their daily meals. Also people in the slums, drivers, daily labourers, migrant workers, etc. can't spend too much money on food. The Amma unavagams offer the following:
• Idli 100 gram Rs. 1
• Sambar rice 350 gram Rs. 5
• Curd rice 350 gram Rs. 3
Suggestions are there to include pickle, appalam, and thvaiyal in the lunch menu.women workers in Tamilnadu Amma Unavagam
Women workers form self-help groups have been engaged to work in the Amma unavagams. They have been trained specially to cook, clean and manage the canteens. Around 2400 women workers will get jobs in our amma unavagam.Tamilnadu Amma Unavagam inauguration of new canteens on April 2 2013
On April 2 2013 around 127 Amma Unavagam will be inaugurated by our TN CM Ms.J. Jayalalitha at 10.00am. Each ward of Chennai Corporation will have one Amma Unavagam, so totally 200 unavagams will be opened.
Can anybody inform me where can we get the exact addresses of the Amma Unavagams(Canteens) in Chennai? Any website will give this information? This would be very useful to all of us, because if we note down the addresses of these Canteens wherever we normally go for work, then we can directly go to these Canteens, in an urgency. We need not have to ask anybody, is it not? Thanks.
