Significance of Sankatahara Chaturthi 2013
Sankatahara Chaturthi is one of the important days celebrated every month by the Hindus. The word Sankatahara means removal of all sankadams or hindrances in life. One who observes fasting or poojas will be relieved from all the obstacles by the Lord. All the temples will be full and at evening 6' o clock abishekams are done to the Lord. Devotees offer milk packets, flowers and garlands to the lord and pray with bhakthi. It is dedicated to Lord Vinayaga and this Chaturthi tithi comes after Pournami. Special poojas are performed on this day in all Ganapathy temples.
If this Sankatahara Chaturthi falls on Tuesday it is considered very auspicious and is called Angarika Chaturthi. Sankashti Chaturthi Vratham or fast is observed by the Hindus all over the world.
