Prasoon Joshi.Story Line:
The movie starts with 1960 Rome Olympics where Milkha Singh (Farhan Akhtar)lose bronze medal and then the movie has taken back to Milkha's childhood. After the India-Pakistan partition, his parents got killed and he ran back to Delhi. There he met his elder sister Isri (Divya Dutta). Then he started stealing things to survive. When he was young, he met Biro (Sonam Kapoor) and fell in love with him. He decides to become a good man and finds himself in Army. In Army camp Gurudev Singh (Pawan Malhotra) finds the hidden talent in him. He trained him hard to become a runner. He was got beaten by some senior players before the practise race. Still with his broken leg, he ran that race and broke National running record. After being an Army man, Milkha came back to his village, where he knew that Biro already got married with someone.
After that he decided to focus on his practise. In Melbourne (Australia), he got attracted by a granddaughter of Australian technical coach and loses the qualifying race. He beats himself after that defeat. While returning back to India, he asks Ranveer Singh (Yograj Singh) for running World record. He practised very hard and won many international competitions. He also broke world running record. He was not ready to lead India for Indo-Pak friendly races. But then Jawaharlal Nehru (Dalip Tahil) convinced him. Whole India and Pakistan people were excited about the race between Milkha SIngh and Pakistani sprinter Abdul Khaliq (Dev Gill). Milkha Singh had started that race and overtaking one by one every opponent and finally won that race and the hearts of million Indians and Pakistanis. The Pakistani commander gave him the title as "Flying Sikh".Direction and Acting:
Superb direction by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra. He balanced the frequent flashback and present story very well. Audience will not get confused. It's quite well shot. He has taken care that Milkha Singh was made runner in the year of 1950s. So according to that the screenplay has shot.
Farhan Akhtar in as Milkha Singh justified the role completely. His hard work is seen on big screen. He is excellent in his acting, great body language. He knew that he is a runner in this movie. So, he runs like a sprinter in the whole movie. Hats off to him and his efforts.
Divya Dutta played Milkha Singh's elder sister and she played it the way it needed. Sonam Kapoor's role was very short, but she looked cute and simple in it. Yograj Singh and Pawan Malhotra played the coaches of Milkha Singh. They both acted very well. South talent Prakash Raj performed well too as a Army Major.Songs and Music:
Prasoon Joshi written lyrics of this movie and Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy of this movie. Zinda, Mere Yaar and Maston Ka Jhund are superbly composed by Shankar Ehsaan Loy. Mere yaar is a soft love song and it is really well composed. Other songs are not that good. My Verdict:
"Bhag Milkha Bhag" is a story of Milkha Singh. So far this is the best movie of year 2013. Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra's best directorial movie after Rang De Basanti. It is a family movie. Don't miss this movie; you will regret if you miss it. I will rate this movie 4 out of 5.
Bhag Milkha Bhag is best movie of the year.
The story is very good. The only negative aspect is the length of the movie.
