Arrest of Yasin Bhatkal will break the waist of Indian Mujahidin

Arrest of Yasin Bhatkal is a big success in the war against terrorism. However, this study says, instead of celebrating this achievement, we should find out what the plans of Pakistan are vis-a-vis India and the kind of strategy to be adopted by it in future. Nevertheless, to sum, arrest of Bhatkal could be said a enormous deed in a small picture.

The recent arrest of Yasin Bhatkal is quite an achievement for the intelligence agencies of India. He has been terrorizing many Indian cities by carrying out bomb blasts. He was wanted in India for long. The information elicited from Abdul Karim Tunda and the helping hands of foreign intelligence have immensely proved helpful in his arrest. This is to be noted that with the help of Lashkar-e Taiba, after restrictions imposed on the Student Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) in 2008, Abdulla Akhtar, Riyaj Bhatkal and Yasin had established the 'Indian Mujahidin' (IM) named terrorist outfit, so that the nefarious designs of Pakistan could be fulfilled by destabilizing India. Not only the terror networks in different cities of India were formed to achieve this goal but several bomb blast incidents were also carried out conspiring with the local residents.

Yasin Bhatkal hails from the Bhatkal village in Karnataka, whose real name is Mohammad Ahmad Siddibappa. He was influenced by the extremist ideologies from the very beginning of his childhoods. His father is a businessperson in Saudi Arabia. His father took Yasin with him to Saudi Arabia to expand his business. However, due to his inclination towards the extremists, he returned to India sooner. Later, after the ban imposed on SIMI and the 'Batla House Encounter' incident, he got himself involved with terrorist activities in a proactive manner.

How Yasin Bhatkal functioned and carried out blasts after blasts

Yasin acted to expand the network of IM, for which, he recruited new people and trained them too. He was also a master in the art of making bomb. His cooperation was vital in making available the bomb materials to the organization i.e. to the IM. Yasin Bhatkal was more dangerous than all the other IM members were. To give fruition to tasks assigned silently was his forte. It was therefore, very difficult to know who carried out the blasts and with what goals I mind. On the other hand was his other fellow Riyaj Bhatkal, owning on his behalf the full responsibilities for all those bomb blast incidents. Yasin Bhatkal is responsible for having carried out three bomb blasts, one after another- in Delhi, Pune and Bangaluru, in 2010. It is clear; Yasin Bhatkal was the most dangerous leader of IM. Just like the way the Al-Qaida weakened up after the killing of Osama Bin Laden and is about finished today, similar would be the fate of IM also, after the arrest of Yasin Bhatkal. In his absence, the waist of IM is certain to break. Although, comparison of Yasin cannot be done with Osama but the manner in which the terror of IM spread its tentacles in India in a very faster pace within a very short time is bound to lessen now.

Arrest- a giant leap forward to obliterate IM roots from India

According to my opinion, this is a huge step in the direction of finishing the terror of Indian Mujahidin spreading carrying attacks on the Indian soil. This point cannot be also sidetracked here that the Indian intelligence agencies and foreign intelligence organization both worked together for the arrest of Yasin Bhatkal. Possibly, helps have been rendered from the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia to India also in this connection. No matter, India does not take the names of these nations, but their cooperation is vital for the fight against terrorism. In view of the accomplishment, India needs to give emphasis on this factor also that Pakistan intelligence agencies are very much active on India-Nepal borders whereas, the Indian intelligence system is too feeble. The political parties should also be wary of their dangerous politicking on terrorism to woo vote banks as it is risky for country and the terrorists feel more emboldened and daring. Pakistan is using Nepalese land to give results to the terrorist activities against India. Therefore, it becomes imperative for India also to strengthen its intelligence network in a much more solid manner to finish off such elements. It is quite evident after the arresting Abdul Karim Tunda and later Yasin Bhatkal that the grips of Indian agencies are getting harder slowly by the day on the terrorists outfits.

Our country is already wrestling with all round anarchy , terrorism ranking supreme among all. Instead of gloating over this success, attempts should be made to find out the plans of Pakistan and what type of strategy it is adopting against India for future. Yasin might be a strong link in this direction who could explain things better.

General picture

To sum up, this could be said that the arrest of Yasin Bhatkal is a big success in a small picture but if seen in a magnified context, this could be also termed as a small success in a big picture. In fact for the challenges of terror attacks that India faces today, we need to work much harder. This is good that India is getting full cooperation openly from foreign intelligence agencies in war against terror. Nevertheless, this does not mean we should sit idle holding our hands in hand. Pressure on the exporters of terrorism would have to be mounted to dismantle the terror centers located in India. Our intelligence agencies stand fair chance to make their system more sturdy from the information gathered from Tunda and Bhatkal. We can expect a countrywide hunt for culprits of terrorist acts sooner than later.
