About Debashree Roy

Debashree Roy was born on 13th June in the year 1964 in Kolkata of West Bengal. She is a famous Bengali Actress in Bengali film industry. She was acted in more than 100 films and awarded more than 40 prestigious awards. Not only in Bengali film industry she was also acted in many Tamil films and the popular name of her in Tamil film industry is Chintamani. She was also awarded with the prestigious National Film Awardas the Best Actress for her film Unishe April in the year 1995. Mr. Prasenjit Chatterjee is her husband and he is also a famous actor in Bengali film industry.

Career of Debashree Roy

When Debashree Roy was just 4 years of old she acted as a child character in the Bengali film "Kuheli" which is later remake in Bollywood and the name of the film in Bollywood is "Kohra". She was a leading actress in Bengali film industry. The best role of her career was the act of a young doctor in the film Unishe April which was directed by the famous Bengali director Rituparno Ghosh. In the Mahabharata which was directed by B.R.Chopra she was also acted in that as the second wife of King Shantanu "Satyavati". Now Debashree Roy is the MLA of Raidighi. She is a Trinamool Congress MLA. She contested successfully against Kanti Ganguly who is the candidate of CPI(M) in West Bengal assembly elections 2011.
