In Hindu Satra the word Jagaddhatri is known as the protector who protects the world who is a female and popularly known as Devi or also known as the supreme goddess. Among all the festivals of West Bengal there are many festivals are celebrated for the Goddess. Jagaddhatri Festival is one of the famous festival of West Bengal. As many people of West Bengal are believe on Tantras so about all the people festive the Durga Puja and Kali Puja Festival in West Bengal. We all know the colour of the Goddess Jagaddhatri is like the colour of of the morning sun and she has three eys and four hands. She holds the bow, arrow, Chakra and conch in her four hands. She wears red slothes and bright jewellery. She is known as the symbol of power. She sits on a lion which stands on the dead Karindrasura. This famous Jagaddhatri Festival is celebrated in all over West Bengal but it is mainly famous in Krishnanagar, Kolkata, Hoogly, Chandannagar and Rishra etc. This famous festival Jagaddhatri Festival was started by Sarada Devi in Ramakrishna Mission. She was the wife of Sri Ramakrishna. The Bengali people believe that she was the Goddess.

But till now this problem is not solved and n one can accurately say about the right person who started this Jagaddhatri Festival of West Bengal. This festival was started in Howrah in the year 1713. After the Jagaddhatri Festival the famous Raas Utsav is arranged.

Actually the goddess Jagaddhatri is known as the another name of Goddess Durga. Sri Ramakrishna said that the goddess Jagaddhatri holds the world. If she does not do this the World might fall down. So the Goddess Jagaddhatri is known as Jagaddhatri Durga or pervasive Jagaddhatri Durga.
