Potagarh of Ganjam, Orissa
Potagarh of Ganjam is the first and oldest collectorate of Ganjam, Orissa. This article gives some knowledge about the oldest fort of Orissa.
Potagarh or the "buried fort" is located at the bank or gorge of Rushikulya River and Bay-of-Bengal, nearby the town Ganjam. It was constructed by Edward Costford in the year 1768. It was the first Collectorate complex of Ganjam District. In the year 1815, it was shifted to Berhampur and finally in the year 1835 to Chatrapur, which is in operation as on date. If someone visit that place, then he/she can recollect the history of British, French, and other nationals.
