Odisha State

The new name of Orissa is Odisha. It is one of the states in India that attracts a lot of tourists from other places, with a wide diversity of tourist destinations. It is also known as Kalinga and Utkal. The modern Orissa was established in April 1 of 1936 and from that year, April 1 is celebrated as Utkal Divas.

Orissa is rich in its culture, arts and religion. There are total 30 districts in this state. Bhubaneswar is capital of the state. It is is also known as Temple city (Mandira Malini). Orissa is coming 9th in the list of largest in area of states in India. Here, 93.33% of total population speaks Oriya. Orissa is famous for its natural beauty and developmental works like Hirakud dam in Sambalpur, Paradeep Port in Jagatsingpur, Barabati Stadium in Cuttack, Jagannath temple in Puri, Lingaraj temple in Bhubaneswar, Konark temple in Puri district, Khandagiri and Udayagiri caves and many more. The big rivers in Orissa are Kathajodi, Brahmani, Mahanadi, Baitarani, Subarnarekha, Budhabalanga, Rushikulya, Bansadhara, Salandi, Indrabati and many more. Chilika lake of Orissa is the largest salty river in the whole Asia continent.
