Narayani, the scenic beauty place of Odisha is situated in Narayani Village near Khalikote of Ganjam Dist. The place is named after the famous Goddess Narayani (Durga).

Main Attractions in Narayani Temple of Ganjam


Presence of Valery Mountain and large green trees of mango, jack fruit and coconut trees add to the scenic beauty of the place and attracts more and more tourists. The flow of perennial fountain and the shadow of big and green trees make it a lovable picnic place. During winter season, the number of picnic lovers to this place is multiplied. The beautiful view of Chillika Lake from the top of Valery Mountain is unforgettable. The great salt lake of Odisha, Chilika is only 5 KM away from Narayani. It can easily reachable from here on the plain and black body of NH-5. While traveling from Keshpur to Narayani, the scenic beauty of Countryside villages and the forests filled with green big trees makes the journey much more interesting .

The temple of holy goddess Narayani with six hands is another attraction of this place. It is alleged that the temple was built before 12 century AD. The temple is situated within the precinct of Bhabani Shankar Temple. And one important thing is the sculpture (Linga) of Lord Bhabani Shankar(Eswar) is situated straight in front of the main dwar of Narayani temple. There are some small temples surrounding the main temple. The walls of the temple are well decorated with ancient arts and curving. The temple is totally buried except the eastern side. The temples are made from sand stones.

How to Reach Narayani of Ganjam


One can reach Narayani both by Road and Rail. Nearest Railway Station is Chilika which is just 5 KM away and Ballugaon is 15 Kms away. By Bus one has to reach Keshpur, which is about 3 Km away from Khallikote, near about 70 Km away from Berhampur. After reaching Keshpur one has to travel about 25 Km to reach Narayani. Auto-Rikshaw facility is available from Keshpur and Narayani is about 120 Km away from Bhubaneswar.

It is a very good place to visit in Odisha. Near this spot the Chilka lake is present. I think after visiting this site, must to visit Chilka Lake near Badkula area.
