Introduction of the Place Bagadevi
Known as Shakti Pitha of Ganjam, Bagdevi is situated at Kulada of Bhanjanagar sub-division. It is also alleged that Bagdevi is the prime goddess of Bhanja King. She was established as Protective Goddess of the fort of Bhanja King in 1200 AD. The presence of ruined fort in the west of Kulada garh and river Mahanadi in the east makes the place more interesting. Kulada is also known as the birth place of the great Poet King Upendra Bhanja. The place is known for its natural beauty of lush green forest, small small hills and river Mahanadi. The presence of historical ruin fort adds to the beauty of the place.
The temple is another attraction of the place. The original temple is situated
at the top of the hill, popularly known as 'Upper Bagadevi'. There are no steps to reach there, and the way is full of stones makes it almost unreachable. By looking to the arrival of lot of devotees, another temple was built at the feet of the hill to keep their interest. The lower Bagadevi is allegedly known as the Saraswat Incarnation of Upper Bagadevi. Because of it, Pasubali is denied here.
The Thakurani Yatra organized once in every three years here attracts more and more people to this place. Apart from this, many nearby people are visiting this place on the day Sankaranti every month.
