Indian Premier League (IPL) Season 5's auction was completed at Bangalore, where 25 players were sold-out directly. However, as per the new statute of IPL, franchisees can buy the players through an online method. The tournaments will be played from April 5th to May 27th in league and knock-out process. Each team will play total 12 matches at their home and outside pitches. The top 4 teams will play as per the IPL-4 format's Play-Off. At last, the grand finale will be played on May 27th 2012. In IPL-5 Indian players were given maximum prioritize then that of foreign players. At the beginning of IPL, foreign players were given more precedence and auctioned with high mart. Though IPL is totally a domestic tournament, organized by BCCI; in IPL-4 and IPL-5, Indian players were specified with more weight and values. In IPL-4 Goutam Gambhir has been auctioned for Shahrukh Khan's Kolkata Knight Riders with a highest rate, i.e. 2.4 million dollar (around 11crore 4lac Indian rupees); whereas in IPL-5, All-Rounder Ravindra Jadeja has been auctioned with 2 million dollar (9.85crore Indian rupees) for Chennai Super Kings franchisee.

Then, in IPL-4 Goutam Gambhir was being first with 11.4crore Indian rupees. Similarly in IPL-5 Auction, All-Rounder Ravindra Jadeja has been purchased by Shahrukh Khan's Kolkata Knight Rider with 9.85crore Indian rupees. Both Chennai Super Kings and Hyderabad Deccan Charges were fought to buy Jadeja; however at last as per Tie-breaker method, Chennai Super Kings won.
