Baruni Peeth is situated only three kilometers from the nearest Kaptipada. A fountain flows from the feet of the Similipal forest, which flows aside the village Balidiha; then it meets with river Gangahar at Dhudhua. There is no such a historical story or information about this place; however today's worshipper of Dhudheswar, Sri Baisnav Charan Tripathy say, his elder brother late Haraprasad Tripathy used to worship the Shiva Linga. About 150years ago, once the local tribes saw a black stone (Shiva Linga) and informed to the Chief Worshipper of Mayurbhanj King, Late Sri Shivanarayan Tripathy (father of Baisnav Tripathy). They got know about the formation of Shiva Linga in the centre of a eye shaped rock and started worshipping then on-wards.
